Convention Friday Evening Summary

Praying to the Father

Enjoy this update on Convention Day Two evening events by Jonathan Phillips!

Friday night began with some drawings for iTunes gift cards, books, and candy.

Following the drawings, Miguel and Jenny Bejarano of Nashville Tennessee shared some of their experiences of cross cultural ministry and church planting in Tennessee.

Miguel also briefly shared his testimony while his wife translated.

Mike Wolfe then shared about ministry mapping and the importance of supporting those churches already involved in that, as well as beginning to do that.

The worship team then led everyone in worship, challenging everyone to lay aside the distractions of life, and to live a life of worship.

Giles Armstrong then came forward taking everyone to 1 Thessalonians 2, sharing about the importance of following the leading of God, and the challenge for church leaders to lead others.

The worship team then came forward and played lightly as Hal Lentz of Sterling Berean gave the opportunity for anyone to come forward and just pray with other members of the Fellowship.

The night then ended on a somber note as many proceeded to talk with the Father together.

Convention Friday Morning Summary

Building on the cross

Enjoy this update on Convention Day Two by Jonathan Phillips!

Friday morning began in an exciting way with the Berean Fellowship creating a formal partnership with Calvary Bible College.  James Clark of Calvary represented the college at the convention.

Next came a time of couple-sharing, when Matt and Rachel Maxwell shared how God worked and brought them to serve in Imperial Nebraska at Imperial Berean. Matt concluded this time of sharing by challenging everyone to “trust in the power of our powerful God.”

The worship team then took the stage, leading in worship and praise.

Giles Armstrong of Mitchell Berean got up and began to share about how our character matters, leading into the love of our Savior.  He closed his time by having Mark Phillips carry out a cross, and then nailing three nails into it.

The nails represented three selfish thoughts that tend to happen in ministry.

The worship team came forward, playing lightly allowing time for reflection of the message, and then proceeded to close the session out for lunch.

Convention Thursday Night Summary

Theme Slide

Enjoy this update on opening night of the convention by our very own: Jonathan Phillips!

Thursday night, the conference kicked off with the BFC worship team leading in music and praise.

President Mike Huber then took the pulpit and shared the vision that he has for the Berean Fellowship, challenging many to take their church to the next level.

Dr. Huber presented the vision goals for the next year:

  • having 1,000 baptisms and 5,000 people in small groups Fellowship-wide,
  • having 70% of BFC churches reporting growth through the year,
  • establishing six new churches in the year,
  • having the churches of each region working together to initiate two churches outside of the United States, and
  • having the churches of the BFC contributing $3,000,000 annually to “Jerusalem, Judea/Samaria, uttermost-parts-of-the-earth missions and church planting.”

Opportunity was given for anyone who desired to give financially toward church planting and missions and over $4,000 dollars was given.

A short break was taken and raffles took place for gift cards, candy, as well as an i-Pad. Following the break, the board of directors was called forward and the official meeting of business began.

After discussion, all votes passed and the adoption of the new constitution took place, as well as the official election of the new board of directors consisting of seven men of the Fellowship.

The night concluded with ice-cream, brownies, and what Bereans do best: fellowship.

Enjoy these first snapshots of Bereans coming together from all over North America to our annual national convention!

Two quotes from the evening session:

Dr. Huber. “You know the problem with friendship evangelism? Most times it ends up just being friendship and we don’t get to the evangelism.”

Dr. Huber. “Every Berean Fellowship church will come to understand, believe, and own the truth that we can do much more together for the cause of Christ than all of us can do separately.”
